Smartness

How you are wired and how you are taught make a huge difference on whether you learn something easily or not.  This I already knew.

I did not know that there were so many categories of intelligence. 

Today I learned that there are eight kinds of smartnesses:

Kinaesthetic – Body Smart
Linguistic – Word Smart
Logical – Number Smart
Interpersonal – People Smart
Intrapersonal – Myself Smart
Musical – Music Smart
Visual/Spatial – Picture Smart
Naturalistic – Nature Smart

If you go to the Birmingham Grid for Learning, you can learn more about the different kinds of intelligence and take a test to see where your strengths in learning are.

I guess I’m only four kinds of smart (and obviously not musically inclined at all, even though I played the clarinet for eight years in school  ).  I thought I would have been stronger in the Visual category, but the rest doesn’t surprise me at all…
