Job Hunting

So in the past month I've turned down two better-paying jobs. One of the jobs would have given me a $3/hour raise, had a phenomenal schedule and great benefits.

It tears me up inside, because after interviewing, I know that I wouldn't have liked working at either job (it's amazing how job postings leave out so many details of the actual position). I can't help but think about the fact that either salary would have been such a relief to my bank account.

Only once have I had a job that I truly hated. I never want to go down that road again, so I am looking for all the red flags ahead of time.

Why is it so difficult for a reasonably intelligent, dependable, hard-working person to find a job they like at a good rate of pay?

...and so the hunt continues.

Nothing

I can't believe it's been a week since my last post.

I can't believe that I have nothing to write about.

I've been concentrating hard on job hunting, and it's just unbelievable how time-consuming a task that is. Even tho' I have all my information together, it seems to take forever to fill out applications. And so many applications are so very redundant - why ask for a copy of my resume if you are going to make me reiterate the whole thing in pieces in the application? All I can do is hope that something good falls my way soon. My hours at work are changing again for the worse - I get to come home later every day than I have been. Lucky me.

The baby chicks are doing good - they are growing up so fast! I need to take some pictures before they are all grown up. They are so funny looking right now - they are getting their adult feathers on their bodies, but their heads and butts still have the fuzzy chick fluff.

My odometer hit another milestone: 141414

Sadly, that's my story for the week.

I need to become independently wealthy so most of my time is freed up to do fun and productive stuff instead of being at work or looking for other work :)

Melancholy

It's been a depressing week.

My Dad was moved to another facility again - now he's even farther away. On the days I go to visit after work, I can't count on doing anything else. By the time I get home, I eat and it's time for bed.

The raise I needed at work didn't come through, so I am actively job-hunting again. Talk about a time-suck.

I've been working little-by-little insulating my basement now that the radiant floor heat is working. Normally, I have no trouble when working with the pink insulation. I know that they say you're supposed to wear gloves and protective clothing when putting in the stuff, but it's never bothered me, so I never worried about it. Now they yellow stuff - yikes! I've learned the hard way that yellow is waaaaay different than pink.

I was putting an insulation blanket on the hot water tank that I'm using to heat my floors. The blanket is yellow insulation, not pink. I never thought twice about not using gloves or anything - Boy, did I pay for that mistake! For the next day I felt like I had fallen into a massive field of stinging nettles. Even after showering and washing what felt like a million times, my skin still hurt.

Moral of this story: Yellow insulation = Use lots of protection

It was a bad day at work today too, which didn't help my mood.

It seems that the only good excitement I had this week was learning about some Firefox add-ons that Al talked about on his blog. My absolute favorite is the IE Tab. I never have to use IE ever again! Whoever invented this is a genius :)

Other things that were new to me that I really liked:
- FEBE Firefox Environment Backup Extension
- Foxmarks
- PC Decrapifier

And then while looking around at the other add-ons in the Firefox collection, I found this one that I really liked - Fission.

Here's hoping things start looking up - I hate feeling this way.
