Saturday Bullets

• An update on The Ladies' sleeping arrangements…  it seems to be changing every night now.  They are all over the place – sometimes all on the nesting boxes, sometimes all on the roosting shelf sometimes they are split.  Cocoa seems to be the Problem Child.  To me it looks like she’s the one next to one other Lady while the rest are somewhere else.  And it looks like a different Lady draws the short straw each night.  We’ll see how it long it takes for them to fall into a pattern again…

 

• So we decided not to go to Rolling Hills for the tours that they were offering during October.  It sounded like the tours were more of a haunted house type thing, so we are going to try and get ten people together for the minimum required and go on one of their regular historical tours.

 

• Elections were pretty much a bust for me.  Mostly everyone I voted for lost.  Everyone complains about how high taxes are and how New York politics don’t do anything to help the average citizen or move the area ahead at all…  and yet all the same people are voted into office year after year.  How can we expect things to change for the better when we don’t put people into office who want to try and fix things?

 

• You know how life has it’s peaks and valleys?  I feel like I’m in a valley right now.  A lot of things aren’t going right and the rest are a big struggle.  I’ve had tough times before for sure, but this feels different.  Worse.  I sure hope that things turn around soon.

 

• Tonight the clocks get set back to Standard Time.  Why is it when we gain that extra hour of sleep, we don’t notice it all – but when we lose it in the spring, it feels like we lost six or seven hours of sleep?  Ugh.

Voting

So someone at work asked me who I was voting for next week and I told him.

“Why are you voting for xxxx?  They are going to lose!”

 

…Do people really vote like that?  They vote for someone only because they think that they are going to win?????  If so, that could explain a lot when it comes to the world of politics.

Whether my guy is ahead or behind in the polls, I vote for him or her because I think that they would be the best person for the job and that’s who I would like to see in office.  I can’t  believe that anyone would do otherwise…

Oh – and the guy that asked the question?  Yeah… he doesn’t vote

It Just Doesn't End

It becomes ever clearer that New York State is run for the benefit of the sponging class: those who either make a living from taxes or don't make a living at all. The wealth-producing private sector is nothing but a stupid milk-cow to Albany. Patterson had a chance to change that, but it's obvious that he won't.

Why don't politicians get it???? Those of us from the NSP (non-sponging class) are doomed.

Election

It's been a few of days since the election, which should be enough time for me not to blog a knee-jerk reaction to the results. I still feel the same way I did Wednesday morning when I saw who is our new President - not happy.

I am afraid of my taxes going up. I am afraid of the number of people on welfare going up. I am afraid of having to support them. I am afraid of what he wants to do with health care. I'm afraid for the security of our country. If something happens to Obama, I'm afraid of Biden. I am afraid of all the people that think his ideas for change are good. I am really afraid.

I know they say that change happens slowly. I *really* hope that any of the scary changes will happen veeeeeerrrrrrryyyyy slowly. Time will tell.

~sigh~

So who is more annoying: The person that is driving way under the speed limit, or the five people between me and that person that won't pass him/her?

Argh.

I had ice cream for dinner tonight.

Rushing the Season

Last week I went into Home Depot to pick up a new drill bit (why does it always seem that I only misplace the bits that I have only *one* of???). It shouldn't have surprised me, but I guess I wasn't thinking about it at all. It just hit me in the face: Christmas. The whole front part of the store was totally decked out in Home Depot's finest Christmas attire. Fully decorated and lit trees, lights, extension cords, timers... you name it - even the handy-dandy Extendo-arm light hanging kits. I like Christmas just as much as the next person, but the fact that stores extend the season earlier and earlier every year makes me sick of the holiday before it even gets here. I mentioned this to one of my co-workers, and she said that a bunch of the stores she shops at have had their Christmas stuff out for a while already. Ugh. I really long for the days when Christmas stuff didn't come out until after Thanksgiving. I'm just really glad I haven't heard any Christmas music playing in the stores yet.

A Message for Obama

Sometimes the simplest messages are the most powerful.

Ugh. Ewww. Meh.

A bit of a nerve-wracking day at work today. We kind of moved up a little in our training. Having to do something new that I'm not really sure about always makes me anxious. I'm sure I'll settle down as the week goes on, but I'm still feeling a bit uptight. Ugh.

I'm really enjoying this season of Heroes, but I really wish that Nikki would just die or go away or something. Whenever she is on, she is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Ewww.

You can tell Election Day isn't too far away. Everyday I have more and more political postcards in my mailbox. I've lost count of how many I've gotten in the last week. And they don't even have any impact on who I'm going to vote for. What a waste of paper and postage. If the guys (and ladies) in office actually did something during their term that would benefit the taxpayer, they wouldn't have anything to worry about when it comes to re-election. Meh.
